Reading during dreary weather . . .

The summer hasn't been a memorable one for beautiful weather. It's actually going down in the record books for being cold, wet and dreary. I've found myself inside on more than one occasion longing to enjoy some summer heat.

I've been passing the time by staying connected with "my peeps" on twitter and have downloaded two professional books onto my ipad - the Cafe and Daily 5.

Somehow, despite my best intentions, I've missed "chats" on twitter that I had told myself not to. I'm hoping to stay connected with grade 1 teachers using #1stchat as a hashtag, as well as the #daily5 crew that have given me so much inspiration. Thankfully I can always go back and see what has been archived.

I have so many things I hope to accomplish with my new classroom. I want to create a "team-teaching" time with another grade 1 class. I want to have a teacher blog and students demonstrating their learning on their own pages. I want to bring in my ipad, ipod, and laptop for students to use during class time. I want to create independent learners with the daily 5. I want to create an atmosphere that I love to come (as well as my students) each and every day.I have to remember to not run myself dry!
