Book list continues to grow . . .

What bliss . . . sitting in the shade on a hot and sunny day listening to the most AMAZING wind chimes blowing gently in the breeze. Although the screen on this laptop is a little hard to see in this sunshine I must get down to work!

Lately, my mind has been swirling with so much information - weekly daily 5 chats, first grade chats, reading different educational books, coming across new ones to buy, writing letters to parents, researching websites and various links, planning visits to 'far-away' teacher stores - that I need to take some time to sort through my thoughts and organize myself. I can only imagine how busy I'll be once summer holidays are over.

When I head back into the school in just over 10 days I want to have a list of learning resources ready for asking and my rational behind wanting them. I have 3 books that I'd like the school to purchase. The first two being The Daily 5 and CAFE books. The next I'd like to read more about is creating independent math workstations in my classroom and have heard a lot about Debbie Diller's Math Workstations for grades K-2.

All 3 of these books provide the framework and ideas on how to offer choice and flexibility for students while enabling me to focus my instruction with individuals and different groups of students. Teaching students to be independent is the key to success. I can hardly wait to start! Time to send my administrators an email.
